San Diego (North Island) also wanted me to get an emissions test, although my vehicle is registered in Texas. I just got a temporary vehicle pass.
I ended up getting my DOD vehicle sticker at Seal Beach. It was quick, easy and they even put the decal on the car!

Was just told here at Ft. Bragg yesterday that Bragg doesn't require DOD registration anymore. Ok, that's cool, as long as all of DOD comply. But, as I see here, that isn't the case. A real military shocker there. I can just one of us, camper in tow, pull up to the gate and the guards say, "we have our own policy....." and the hits just keep on coming.

Fort Knox has stopped issuing stickers. I guess the Army is adopting the no sticker policy.

Redstone Arsenal has also stopped issuing stickers. Now it is just an ID check.

My wife and I started full-timing last June and every installation we stopped at said they were not issuing decals anymore, until we got to Fort A.P. Hill where we had to register and get a decal. Ever since we just show our retired ID card and we are allowed to pass with no problems.

We too just officially went full-timing this past June. Haven't had any problems yet, just showing ID cards at Grand Forks AFB, Fairchild AFB, and Fallon NAS. Got decals at Fairchild as I was told I'd need them at Fallon and there's no place to park at North gate and you have to enter at South gate.
