She may or may not be full of it Frank - lots of us are either full of it or not, depending on a lot of things.
But she is spot on about the abuse of homesteading, no matter what kind if RV anyone drives. IF you homestead or abuse the sites, you should be sent packing.
Too many abuse it - drawing BAH and put in the bank, for example. That's you and I paying for that fat bank account. And, anytime someone uses MCG for personal residence time is abuse ... the MCG is for all AD and retired, not for one person to save money on the taxpayers backs.

I agree 100 percent Monkey. I don't like homesteaders any less than the rest of you. I've seen all kinds of units. There was a young person in a very larger motorhome for at least 3 years that I know of at Mid Bay Shores. I didn't see him this time so I guess he moved on. The longest we've stayed in a military campground is 12 days. We like it that way and I really get mad when I go to a campground that doesn't take reservations and told there are no sites available when I actually see two or three sites open.

Let me make one thing clear. I agree with what the lady is saying. I just don't like the way she says it sometime.

The solution to our military homestead persons and families:
As an experienced traveler I must respond to the gentleman who brought to our attention the needs and wants of our military persons or families, on base.
Yes, your family is ‘important‘ to the retiree. And we know how difficult it is being separated from our loved ones. Remember we too have been there.
The military RV parks were not made to house your family of 5 in a 5th wheel recreational trailer. Oh, I forget the family dog and cat plus the numerous bicycles and toys.
Fact one, in our military RV parks we are not accustomed to being around your kids we have raised ours. And now we desire to enjoy the peace, and quiet conversation with our fellow retirees.
Nor do I want to babysit your kids in the laundry room while your wife is busy taking care of your new baby
I have no problem with your desire to keep your family together but the military gives you a wonderful perk… call … Housing pay. That money is meant to be used as part of your housing rent.
And I agree in our economy we all have had to cut corners. But moving your family into an 5th wheel while you sell your house back home isn’t the purpose of these parks.
Oh I forgot to mention the block patio you have built around your trailer, and the numerous empty flower pots stacked next to the front door. And don’t forget that freezer sitting outside next to the dog pen.
Anyone can comment or tell me these situations do not really exist but they do. I have pictures and interviews, to prove it. But I will say that one particular RV campground has found a solution. Aviation Harbor at Belle Chase, New Orleans there you will see everything I’ve described.
The one saving grace is that Aviation’s Harbor has set aside a rather large fully serviced area for you to park your trailers, 5th wheels or any other vehicle you wish to live in. Plus, you can set all the stuff outside including the freezer.
Aviation Harbor has truly thought, ahead and has placed a fence; between your unsightly homestead trailer park. They have taken the solution one step further. They have established a beautiful area for that retired RV’r. There the retiree can socialize, relax and not have to spend their time dodging, soccer balls and bicycles or babysitting your kids.
I wish others would take a lesson from Aviation Harbor at Belle Chase, New Orleans. Check out the RV Park. It’s a relative new park and is run in the most efficient manner. Go ahead and give them a call they will be more than happy to tell you about their solution and accommodation for the military homesteader.
