I was a smart minded business person and retired as an Insurance Executive but have no desire to be a smart minded business person again. Have a brilliant 23 year Army hubby who also not interested in running a business but I just bet someone who uses this website and forum might jump on the idea, thanks for putting the idea out there.

I can't understand why anyone would want to fraud other veterans by Homesteading, which in other words are cheapskates getting a free ride and feel no shame, As I have said before RV = Recreational Vehicle not find a claim and settle there. RVs are a great form of travel to see America after you have completed over 20 years of service in most cases and other cases with special cases, but still the same everyone would like to travel and come to a MCG and not see 100 lb gas bottles and a collection of crap around their use to be known as an RV but is now a free loader space and when you try to check in you are given a crappy site because the Homesteaders have all the nice sites. Come on enjoy that RV on the road where it wants to let those Horses run free and be cooped up at one location. A Homesteader is a RVer wanting to get out but won't.

I'm sorry SeaPap. You posted directly after my 2 posts and didn't identify who you were addressing so I assumed. I'm against using militay campgrounds and recreation areas for PCS and TDY housing. I spent 29 1/2 years in the military and then worked as a federal civilian. I went TDY many times and if on-base quarters were not available I had no problem getting into a local hotel. I have never encountered a private campground with stay limits. I agree that military campgrounds should have a limit of 30 days and then move on. I don't like the 2 week advance reservation system. I have never stayed in a military campground for more than 12 consecutive days and like to have confirmed reservations a little farther in advance than that. I'm very much against homesteading because it makes the campgrounds into slum areas and a lot of these people live like pigs. As for onsite enforcers, they do have them but most don't do much enforcing.

That is okay Frank A, as I said I'm new to this form and it is a little different from what I'm use to. I thought I was posting it to his comment and didn't realize it would go on the end of the list.
I took the idea from the military lodges, TDY and PCS have priority. I made a couple of cold moves with my family in tow and was very happy they had the policy. I was lucky and never stayed longer than a week before we secured housing. It was a lot more convenient and cheaper than a civilian place.
The idea of only taking reservations 2 weeks is to not be able to book a second reservations the day they check in. Maybe only restrict reservations time to people already in the campground.
The idea of a central reservation control would/could standardize enforcement because they would all have the same rules. A camp host could take care of all the other duties and eliminate the need for a paid enforcer.
You may not have ran into any locations with limits but most all the large campground clubs, like; Passport America, Escapees RV Club, etc have limits.

We belong to Thousand Trails and can stay 3 weeks and have to move out for a week before we can come back to the same park. We can go directly to another park in the system. Now here at Pensacola you can make reservations 3 months out and stay 3 months, leave for a month and stay another 3 months. The Navy is trying to come up with one system and some campgrounds have gone from 4 month advance reservations to 6 months. One campground has reportedly gone from no reservations to reservations. At Pensacola the office clerk said they have been to meetings about the new Navy system but no talk of changing advance reservations from the current 3 months. Several campgrounds have limits of 30 days but I've seen the same people on the same site for at least 3 to 5 years.

I do not want to say where I live. I have checked at a local mobile home park and it is $275 + utilities. When I checked at MacDill AFB it is $575 per month. Big difference even after pay for the utilities.
I am totally against homesteading in a Military rv park.
