Been retired for to many years to know what’s going on with the Active Duty these days. So I’m kind of wondering how someone living at their Permanent Duty Station would provide a recall address when they are living in a Motor Home that is moving from place to place all the time. I guess one way would be to declare yourself a geographical bachelor and take government quarters while the spouse lived at another location many miles away. Then the spouse could visit with their MH, from time to time. Now when I was in the service that recall address was very important. Not living at it would cause the CO to take steps to correct the problem. So do any of you know if this requirement has been drastically changed?

Geoff QUOTE: "Rgr that, any topic ideas?"

Nope, it was your thought, I just like to see one topic in each post session so folks don't talk about one thing then another in the same session -- it just gets confusing. Or skirts the point...

Geoff,
You mentioned you got a KAO camp host job, on another post. Does this mean you have found a job and another place to stay?

Yes, we will be moving to a local KOA, and I have temporary (for now) part time employment there. I am hoping and working on trying to secure a position for the winter months, but even if I don't, we got resonable rates untill April.

However, this does not mean I don't feel passionately about MCGs and the AD fulltimers roll in it. I am SO friggin' angry about the 9 empty spaces here over the 4th of July, I could beat my head against the wall!! I need a smoke, will continue this after. Besides, the batteries in my keyboard are dying and my wife keeps tossing and turning making it hard to type. :(

OK, I'm not going to talk about the hipocratic selective enforcement of the rules by this MCG host, or who is entitled to what. I'm also not going to talk about how more people are fulltiming it and fewer are vacationing, both because of the current economy. I'm only going to talk about the MCGs here at NAS Oceana. (Ocean Pines & Sea Mist)

The rule that allowed entitled members to bounce back and forth every 60 days between these two MCGs, (being only a few miles apart) was rescinded by the CO in May. The camp host told me it was because people complained about not being able to get into either MCG for the 4th of July. So, apparently we are so full that nobody can get in either place because people are fulltiming and taking up space here and at Sea Mist. Everyone was following the 60 day rule, and met their 14 days off CG rule by going to the other MCG. So the CO disallowed this practice. (Dam Neck is an annex of NAS Oceana and are under the same CO)

My neighbor got a call from our camp host a week or so back asking if he wanted extend his stay, being we have plenty of room, isn't that funny? More to the point, it is now the 4th of July, and I count 8 empty camp sites here at Ocean Pines. Obviously we have room, there was NO need for the rule change.

I feel at the very least the rule of hopping between these two MCGs should be reinstated. I also STILL feel that nobody should have to leave if there is room, expecially durring the off season. I understand why others feel otherwise, but I think a compromise could be made.

It frustrates me that all I can do about it is piss and moan about it here, and it serves no real purpose other than gettings others angry at my viewpoints and opinion. My wife doesn't want me to do anything or talk to anyone for fear of reprisal, and sadly I think it's a justified fear. So here I vent, hear me cry!!
