1991 Retired 27 years, USN. I was a Chief Petty Officer that was commissioned at the 17 year point and retired as a LT. We feel fortunate that we live close to Naval Station Mayport, NAS Jax and the sub base at Kingsbay. And thank you Larry for this great website.

I am a retired U.S. Army Transporter in 2001, I now a DA civillian, We go RVing at least 2 -3 3 times a month for 3-4 day stays. I know som folks are Full-Timers and some are very considerate and stay within guidelines that are considerate to veterans such as myself and leave us room to be able to go to Mil CG 100 deg turn from the Homesteaders, so I salute those folks who share Mil CGs with their fellow Warriors giving them equal time at these veteran benefits CGs with their families.

Retired from the Army in 1980. We stay at FamCamps when available. Have stayed at Ft Gordon Rec Area; Euchee Creek at Ft Benning; Destin Army Rec Center in Fl; Patrick AFB in Fl. Was at one time a homesteader at Ft Gordon until Corps of Engineers made everyone move out. No more homesteaders at that FamCamp. By the way, Pointes West at Ft Gordon is about 30 miles from the post. They have a small store at the CG, boat slips, a beach area and that's about it. Most of the sites are full hookup and you can use the Golden Age Passport because Clarks Hill Lake (now Lake Thurmond) is a Corps of Engineers run lake and dam.

The only thing wrong with being retired is that you never get a day off!

I'm laughing my butt off. You must be from Jawja. Even though they changed the name it will always be Clarks Hill to long time residents of the area. We just (last year) moved from there to Florida.

I am a disabled Vet, and have only used the Military Campgrounds for about a year. I find them as I find the civilian campgrounds, some great, some good and some I won't stay in.
I was introduced to Passport America in March while I was at Pelican Roost. I joined, and have used it 1 time so far. I also have reservations in Branson, Mo in August for 3 nights. The Pasport America price is $18 a night in Branson with Passport America and I paid $15 in Bristol, Tn. It will pay for itself real fast.
