What is your Status?
We have been RVing for six years with the normal progression (trailer to fifth wheel to motor home). Took a camphost position at about the time fuel started going up. We were just going to travel full-time but could not resist the opportunity to live a year or two on the beach.
I am 60 and wife is 62 so she just started her SS and I will start mine in about 18 months.
We are currently on our way to Livingston, Texas to finish our domicile project while our campground at Camp Lejeune is closed.
While the cost of fuel is high, we would be full-timing regardless. We would just make the necessary adjustments.

I retired last year from the Air Force. I purchased a B+ RV after a lot of research (www surfing) in Dec from EBay at a steal. I look forward to a lot of weekend trips and will travel the USA and Canada next summer.
Welcome to the world of camping and welcome to the world of Monaco. (Yes, R Vision is one of the Monaco family of companies.) We've had good experiences using military campgrounds when we find them in the path of our travels. Most of the time we wind up using Passport America campgrounds where we pay half-price as PA members.
Currently at Frenchman's Landing Campground just west of Eastman, Wisconsin.

Retirement allows us to utilize the camps without having to worry about having to hurry home for work. Initially we traveled using commercial CG then I decided to search for a MCG and found this site. So this year we traveled using MCG over commercial 90% of the time. I like the security and base ammenities.

Thank you for your kind welcome. How did you decide on Passport America v.s. the other memberships? I have rviewed PA but do not have enough background, knowledge & experience to know which one(s) are the best deal. Thanks in advance!
We hooked up with a group of six other Monaco coaches in January 2007 to trek to Florida. The leader of the group had made reservations for us in PA parks across Interstate 10. At the time I was the only non-PA member. They were paying half price each night while I paid full price. When we got to the SE Area FMCA rally in Brooksville, FL, I headed for the PA booth and signed up. Most campground memberships cost a bunch of money up front and then a yearly maintenance fee. PA cost just $44 per year and you make that back with just three nights in a PA park. PA parks, like MCG's, are not always directly in your path of travel and usually are not right along the interstate. Last month we stayed in three of them in Wisconsin and saved a good amount of money.
