We travel with small terrior dog. He stays on a leash when we take him out. We clean up after him. He never stays outside by himself. We have no respect for people who are inconsiderate with their pets and or children. By the way, we have never had a problem with either at any campground we have stayed at. We were just at Patrick AFB and the folks who had pets had them on leashes and took them to a dog walk area and cleaned up after them, including the CG host.

We've traveled with a dog and an 'indoor' cat for many years. Our current mixed breed 35 pound dog is a real 'camping' animal. At home she is free to roam our property but takes to being tethered while in the RV with no problem. She does not bark or yip and we do clean up after her. If we are hiking on a trail, she goes so far off the path that it makes it difficult to pickup after her.
People remark about how well behaved she is. Well, it's all in the training. When you run into a yippee, poop anywhere dog - it's a people problem. Maybe we should require a 'test' for pet ownership the way we do for driver's license.

Correct my last post. I meant to say that it was some of the owners that are the problem. I am not runnng down all pet owner there are more responsible owners than not. I always had a dog when I lived in a house, but choose not to when I went full timming.

I concur with monkey44 on this one, the owners that do not follow pet rules think other rules do not apply to them either. Personality or attitude issue I guess. One example of this was our last stay at Mayport while taking the trash to the dumpster a small dog on a too long leash charged at me (I was on the road) and if I had not moved out of the way the "ankle biter" would have gotten me. Owner was outside and said he never did that before in a not too nice voice. I saw later the dog did the same thing to other people walking by.

Hopefully, you notified the camp host about the dog charging folks, and the too-long leash that allows the charging to ocurr. Again, I am growing impatient with the "everyone must conform, but me" people!
